Ports of embarkation: Livorno, San Vincenzo, Piombino, Portoferraio.
Tuscany and its archipelago are the ideal area for cruises of one to two weeks with Mainè. Only four out of seven islands are open to visitors, but together they are worth the entire Corsica.
Capraia
Capraia is a piece of Corsica just to the east of the French island. It is almost completely wild because for more than a century it was a prison-island. In addition to the ruins of the prison and the beautiful village perched on the rock, Capraia is the ideal place for taking long but very easy walks immersed in the scents of the mediterranean scrub. On a clear day, from the top of the island you can spot Corsica, Liguria and Tuscany. The waters are deep and clear and there are many bays where to stop to sleep or swim.
Elba
Elba is the third largest Italian island and Monte Capanne, its highest point, is over 1000 meters high. It is known for its crystal clear blue coastal waters such as those of Sardinia. Its shape and its location allow to always find excellent shelters from bad weather. Portoferraio, Porto Azzurro and other coastal towns are not the only ones who deserve a visit: the lesser known inland towns – Rio, Marciana, Capoliveri and Campo – are marvellous and they are the ideal destination to enjoy the renowned Tuscan wine and food.
Argentario and Giglio
Argentario and Giglio, a promontory and an island, form the southern part of the area. As well as Elba they offer many shelters and ancient villages to visit, while the tiny island of Giannutri, inhabited by seagulls and a dozen people, is one of the most beautiful places in the whole area, especially if visited in low or mid season.
